  1. I’m always sad when any White House pet crosses. They’re so much smarter and have more integrity than their owners.

  2. I am truly sad to learn about Barney’s passing. I followed him and his adorable antics from the moment he entered the White House as a pup.. Watching the holiday Barney cams, the lovely pictures of him on the White House lawn playing with big soccer balls and the relationship he had with President Bush and I was smitten!. Barney was the inspiration for me to give a rescue Scottie a home and it was the best decision I ever made. Sadly, my Gus was with me for less than 3 years before suddenly becoming ill – with the dreaded cancer.

I hope the Bush family and Ms. Beazley can find comfort in the wonderful memories of this dynamic little guy who enriched their lives beyond measure. I can honestly say my life was enriched by my Gus, and I owe it all to Barney Bush..

    • Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Oh my so sad to hear of the passing of your sweet Gus at such a young age like my Duffy (6 years). I too loved every photo of Barney and the Christmas videos were priceless, such a treat!

  3. Sad Day for all Scottie Lovers.

  4. Fragile Circle
“We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live within a fragile circle, easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the only certain immortality,
never fully understanding the necessary plan.”

  5. Bye bye Barney! My peep remembers watching your videos when she was still a school girl!

  6. Barney sure made Mr. Bush look good didn’t he! (Actually, I think anybody holding or playing with a Scottie looks good.)

    Bye Bye Barney.

    Aroooooo! Stuart

  7. Farewell to Barney.
